Satellite Finder : Why is it important?

ADVERTISEMENTS

Today, a lot of people are using satellites to view and enjoy their favorite programs. All they have to do is to install these babies and make sure that the satellite dish is accurately pointed to a satellite source which can get the signals you need. It’s not quite as easy as it sounds since, though; literally speaking, every angle counts. But if you have a satellite finder, the task can be many folds less difficult.

Satellite finders are sometimes called satellite signal meters. These satellite finders are very helpful for accurately pointing satellite dishes at communication satellites found in the orbit. Therefore, it is an important part if you wish to install a dish for satellite television viewing.

So, how important is a satellite finder in pointing satellite dishes?

In installing satellite dishes, remember that it is important that the dish is pointed accurately towards a satellite to be able to view satellite cable programs. For this purpose,  satellite finders is necessary to make it easier. Before you can align the dish, the gain knob should be turned up sufficiently so that the needle and the tone are activated and a good azimuth reading can be obtained on the compass. This dish is made of metal and if the compass is anywhere near it during the reading, the result may be incorrect. If you want to get an accurate reading, you can do it at a tree top or a house from a distance.

Set the elevation on the dish mount scale and place the dish in a way that it can move sideways or upward and downward. Installation should be placed firmly. Knowing the azimuth and elevation in your specific area can be done by checking the install screen on the receiver menu and then entering your zip code. After doing this, attach one end of the jumper cable to the LNB output port while the opposite end has to be attached to the LNB input satellite finder. After this, you can then maneuver the dish to find the optimum signal position. Remember that even the slightest movement can affect the reception so the dish should be properly and firmly put in place.

Different cable networks and dish antennas need to point to a satellite for you to enjoy viewing television programs. But a satellite finder is perhaps the most vital tool in installing these dishes to be able to receive powerful signals. It is therefore to your advantage to have basic knowledge of this gadget.
